I am delighted that my friend Eloise Renouf will be joining us for the first A Nest of Gentle Makers Retreat. We have enjoyed a friendship spanning over 35 years and I have fond memories of sitting together throughout our senior school art lessons, so this collaboration is the perfect way for our relationship to evolve!
Eloise is an artist, designer and illustrator who lives and works in Nottingham, UK. With a background in textile design, her work is based around her love of natural forms, dynamic colour combinations and mid-century art and design.
She has worked for studios in London and New York, and now currently produces her own range of fine art pieces, limited-edition prints and fabric accessories. She also works with many high-end companies designing fabrics, homewares, stationery, gift ware, packaging and interior decorations.
“In my workshops for A Nest of Gentle Makers, I hope to bring the outdoors inside – looking for and gathering inspiration from nature; from the environment that surrounds us in the New Forest – and spending time working with these finds to produce drawings, collages, rubbings and prints. The first session will focus on using simple techniques to illustrate our finds. Through printing, drawing and mark-making, we will create a variety of images in seasonal colours, that can then be collaged and arranged in session two to create a finished artwork. The emphasis is on experimentation, learning new techniques, and most importantly having fun!”
No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided.
Eloise’s best-selling book “Twenty Ways to Draw a Tree” was released in 2013.
